What is Place Value?

  • Every digit in a number has a place, which gives it a value.
  • The place value tells how much each digit is worth depending on where it appears.
  • Example: In 2536:
    – 2 is in Thousands → 2000
    – 5 is in Hundreds → 500
    – 3 is in Tens → 30
    – 6 is in Ones → 6
